Greece continues to be the eyes and ears of the Orthodox Church. For the first time, an Albanian bishop will be at its head.
Greek Prime Minister Mitsotakis congratulated the new Archbishop Ioan Pelushi, via a phone call.
He himself announced this, through a post on Platform X, where Kyriakos Mitsotakis declares:
"I contacted His Beatitude the Archbishop of Tirana, Durrës and All Albania, Ioannis, and congratulated him on his election.
"Our shared belief is that the Church of Albania is a point of unity and mutual understanding between the two peoples. We will continue to work towards this goal, honoring the memory and work of Blessed Anastasios," Mitsotakis wrote.
