President Donald Trump's son, Donald Trump Jr., visited Serbia and hosted a podcast with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, where Trump Jr. distorted history by attributing NATO bombing of Serbia to Clinton's need to cover up the "Levinsky" scandal.
Analyst and political scientist Shkëlzen Gashi, invited to the show "The Unexposed" on MCN TV, said that Trump Jr. visits Serbia for business interests, but his influence on the president is still unclear. He said that President Trump is unpredictable and that anything is possible, even in relation to Kosovo.
" The business interests are his and his companies'. I was impressed during the interview that he mentioned that he was fascinated by the interview with Vučić and that Serbia supported his father's election to the US.
That is, the US interest now will not be identical to the interest during the 90s and 2000s. The US interests are not what they used to be. They had an interest in separating Serbia from Russian influence, now they no longer have this interest. They even had it in the 2000s. During the 2000s they bombed Serbia for the second time, declaring the independence of Kosovo.
Since 2010, US interests have changed. They no longer see the idea of punishing Serbia for breaking away from Russia. During the 2010s and beyond, they have done favors. One with the Special Court and the second with the Association of Serb-Majority Municipalities. Both were demands of Serbia and both were implemented.
Now with the arrival of Trump, the situation has changed radically, he is a completely unpredictable politician. For this, many psychologists, members of the US Psychological Association, have warned American and world opinion that he is an unstable politician. His decisions are unpredictable. Then they apologized because they broke the ethical rule, since they should not declare about a person's psychological state. So nothing is excluded under Trump.
If they were talking about President Trump earlier and I told you he was closing down VOA and REL, we would say you're going too far. I wouldn't be surprised if he were to support Serbia even more openly. Change the territory of Kosovo and so on.
"Donald Trump Union has business interests. How much can it influence the President? It remains to be seen. There is no doubt that the US approach to Kosovo may change. What should Kosovo institutions do? We have not seen any reaction from the leaders, neither the President, the Prime Minister, the Speaker of Parliament, the Foreign Minister nor the Kosovo ambassador to the US reacted. They should have made it known that the conflict started because of the Serbian state that has committed apartheid and massacres, terrible crimes, rapes," said the analyst.
Gashi added that Kosovo's political elite should not give up if the US officially positions itself in favor of Serbia.
"If this happens, it will be very bad for Kosovo, but this does not mean that we should go against the US. The political elite of Kosovo must make it clear to the world that it appreciates the role of the US in independence, but does not agree and the Kosovar political elite must not give up ," said Gashi, among other things.
