Judge Mimoza Margjeka has been dismissed from office after being accused of corruption.
The High Judicial Council has accepted this Tuesday the request of the High Inspector of Justice for disciplinary proceedings with the measure "Dismissal from duty" for the magistrate Mimoza Margjeka, who is a judge at the Durrës Judicial District Court.
At the hearing, ILD inspectors concluded that the magistrate was found guilty by the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime and Appeal, for actions of the most serious degree, such as corrupt acts related to the exercise of the function of judge, and that constitute a criminal offense. The irregular exercise of duty by the magistrate, as well as the very nature of the criminal offense committed, has brought consequences for the delivery of justice, has seriously discredited the image, authority, dignity and has seriously damaged public trust in the magistrate and the bodies of justice, all very serious disciplinary violations for which the ILD requested the measure of dismissal, which was accepted by the High Judicial Council.
A few months ago, the Special Court of Appeal sentenced the former judge of Appeal, Mimoza Margjeka, to 3 years of "Probation Service" for the charge of "corruption".
Margjeka is accused of corruption, after the interceptions of the Special Prosecutor's Office showed that Margjeka received 6,000 euros in exchange for getting Orion Bali out of the cell in exchange for a "property guarantee".
Together with Margjeka, at that time SPAK also investigated the husband of the judge, Arben Cara, the lawyer of Orion Bali, Skënder Demiraj, the brother of the defendant Nejton Bali and the realtor Klaudjo Zhilla.
