Due to the bad weather, with rain and in some areas even snowfall, the police have appealed to drivers to be careful.
According to the police, road axes in the districts of Shkodër, Korçë, Kukës, Gjirokastër and Dibër, as well as the National Road and the Llogara axis, present the presence of snow on the roads.
Authorities announce that the use of winter tires and chains is mandatory in these segments, in order to avoid road accidents.
Also, work is being done to clear blocked roads and salt them to prevent frost.
"The Traffic Police Services, General Patrols, "Eagles" units and the National Security Forces continue to be fully prepared in the field for road traffic management and assistance to citizens.
As a result of snowfall and fog, vehicle traffic has become difficult on several road axes, mainly in mountainous areas.
According to the State Police, road axes in the districts of Shkodër, Korçë, Kukës, Gjirokastër and Dibër, as well as the National Road and the Llogara axis, present the presence of snow on the roads.
Authorities inform that in these segments the use of winter tires and chains is mandatory, in order to avoid road accidents.
Traffic Police services are on the ground and are collaborating with road maintenance contracting firms to clean the roads and salt them to prevent frost.
"The State Police calls on drivers to show increased caution, to comply with road traffic rules and Police instructions, and to equip themselves with the necessary winter equipment on roads where weather conditions require it ," the announcement states.
