The Kakavija border crossing point will operate with restrictions for the next two days due to a protest announced by Greek farmers.

The Albanian Border Police has received official notification from the Greek authorities that the Kakavija-Ioannina axis will be blocked in the area of the Kallpaq village crossroads.

According to the announcement, the blockade began today at 12:00 Greek time and will last 48 hours. During this time, the movement of vehicles towards the territory of Greece will be impossible, completely suspending movement on this axis.

The protesting farmers have warned that they will only allow vehicles transporting medical emergencies to pass. Any other vehicles will be banned until the end of the announced protest period.

The Kakavija Border Police calls on citizens who have planned trips to Greece to take precautions and review their plans, avoiding movement during these two days to avoid long queues and congestion.

Albanian authorities continue to communicate with the Greek side and will inform the public if the road is unblocked before the announced deadline. This is one of the repeated protests that Greek farmers have recently held.
