The Municipal Police has launched an on-site action to free public spaces that are being used illegally as private parking by various citizens.
The action consists of removing bars, metal triangles, chains, cans or other objects placed on streets and sidewalks to “reserve” parking spaces. According to the authorities, such practices violate the right to equal use of public space and are contrary to applicable legislation.
In the field, Municipal Police officers are identifying problematic cases and intervening to remove illegally placed obstacles. In this process, the Municipal Police is cooperating with the General Directorate of Judicial Police (DGJP), handling any complaints or findings identified.
" Stop placing bars and objects for parking appropriation in public spaces! Placing bars, chains, cans or other objects to "reserve" parking spaces in public spaces is illegal and violates the right of citizens to equal use of common space. Every public space is at the service of everyone, not private property! The Municipal Police, in cooperation with the DPPGJ, is handling every complaint and finding on the ground. Together for a more orderly and fairer city ", announces the Municipal Police.
