Traffic will resume on the Librazhd-Prrenjas axis tomorrow...
After 10 days of total blockade, from tomorrow at noon, citizens can move freely on the Librazhd-Prrenjas axis. The head of the Albanian Road Authority, Ami Kozeli, announces that the alternative route has been completed and will be accessible to travelers tomorrow at 12:00.
Also today, the Albanian Road Authority has published an illustrative video, graphically showing how the Librazhd–Prrenjas segment slid, at Arrat e Gurrës in Dragostunjë, where it is thought that the slide began on the lower side of the road.
After taking geological samples through drilling at four key points, which will be subject to expertise on the sustainability of the area, the ARRSH has also published the route where the new 1.3-kilometer-long axis will be built, which will connect Dragostunjë with Hotolishti.
On February 21, the ARA imposed a total road closure due to a massive landslide. The bridge over which the old road passed suffered extensive damage, while the new road was also damaged. As a result, traffic was diverted to the Maliq–Lozhan–Moglicë–Gramsh and Korçë–Ersekë–Leskovik–Përmet–Këlcyrë–Tepelena axes.
After days of work, it seems that a temporary road will now be opened, where vehicles will be able to pass. The ARA itself claims that the cause of the landslides was rain, while the prosecution has launched an investigation. There are suspicions that the company that is building the new road has eroded the river and, as a result, this has led to massive landslides.
