GJKKO has left in force the measure of prison arrest for former mayor Safet Gjici and 'house arrest' for Alma Kaçi.
The Special Court has left in prison the former mayor of Kukës, Safet Gjici, who was arrested on Saturday at the request of SPAK. Meanwhile, Alma Kaçi, the wife of the video scandal, has been placed under house arrest.
The former mayor of Kukës has categorically denied that he violated his duty, while he is accused of passive corruption.
Investigations about Gjici started a few days ago, after the publication on social networks of a video with erotic content, where the former mayor had intimate relations with the citizen Alma Kaçi.
After the sexual act, they discuss in the office a project that would be financed by the municipality for the isolation of stray dogs in Kukës. Immediately after, Gjici calls one of his subordinates to the office to deal with the documentation that the citizen Alma Kaçi will submit.
The prosecutor's office carried out a series of verifications on the case, concluding the charges of corruption against the two investigators.
The 51-year-old Safet Gjici is accused of the criminal offense of "passive corruption of high state officials or local elected officials" article 260 of the criminal code, where if the charge is proven, he can be sentenced to imprisonment from four to twelve years.
40-year-old Alma Kaçi is accused of the criminal offense "Active corruption of high state officials or local elected officials" article 245 of the Criminal Code, where if the charge is proven, she can be sentenced to imprisonment from one to five years.
