Three girls from Colombia, one from Venezuela and another from Russia have been sentenced to 1 million lek fine each by the Tirana Court, after being accused of practicing prostitution in Albania. The four defendants, aged 24, 31, 33 and 34, were tried in absentia in the capital's court, where through their lawyers they agreed to the sentence requested by the prosecution.
During the investigation, the accused revealed details about how they arrived in Albania, the payments ranging from 200 to 1,000 euros they received for each client, but also who they shared their profits with, and the claim that they were unaware of the fact that prostitution is considered a crime in Albania.
According to the court decision, obtained by A2, the investigation that led to the trial of the Russian and 4 Latin American women began in 2022, following information collected on social networks on the Internet that foreign nationals, mainly originating from their native countries, Russia, Poland, Moldova and Ukraine, but also Latin America, were arriving in Albania to practice prostitution.
According to the data, they stayed in rented apartments for periods of 1-2 months in Tirana and then left and were replaced with other girls, which made it difficult to document the illegal activity.
The movements of girls arriving in Albania for prostitution are coordinated by Albanian and foreign citizens, who cooperate in everything from recruiting girls, creating travel conditions, providing accommodation in Tirana in apartments or hotels, to mediating meetings and collecting benefits.
For the case, investigators examined a website, which displayed intimate photos of girls and their phone contacts. To reach them, a simulated action was authorized, where Judicial Police Officers, posing as clients, contacted the girls and requested sexual services and then discovered the apartments where the 5 accused were practicing prostitution.
In their statements during the investigation, the defendants confessed that they had contacted an agency in Albania, to which they were offered to practice prostitution in Tirana. They claimed that they were coordinated by a woman they spoke to on WhatsApp, who accommodated them in apartments.
According to the accounts, the girls gave half of the profits they earned from prostitution, money they gave to a boy around 35 years old, who came to their apartments once every 7-8 days. (A2 Television)
