The serious event in Shënavlash of Durrës where the three children of the Meta family killed their father and then buried him in the cattle shed has shocked the entire public opinion.
Regarding this, sociologist Alkida Myftaraj, while analyzing the whole situation, stated that Albanians are in a society that has turned violence into normality. She added that as a society, we are used to never saying no to a father's word, not even a mother.
"We are a society that can decide the fate of children and not let them go free. This has been passed down from generation to generation, although it has come to extinction due to education. As a society, we cannot say no to the word of the father, not even the mother.
In the culture of the Albanian family, it is not to go to the police and show our problems outside the house and look like a regular family. This is a problem that has happened regularly and we think that we will abuse a small child if he does not listen to us. We have normalized violence.
Violence itself affects. If you grow up in a violent family, you will be a violent person," said the sociologist.
On the other hand, the lawyer Anxhela Lami, while analyzing the statements that were made public by the children, but also by the neighbors, showed some contradictory statements. She says that the girl's testimony that she desperately wanted to betroth her falls apart at the moment when the person who wanted to tie the knot withdrew when he learned of the Meta family's desire for the 19-year-old's education.
According to the lawyer, the fact that the children continued with their normal lives, even after the very serious event, is also worrying.
"This is the most serious event. An authoritarian father will certainly be because he is authoritarian. If he was a violent father, I have a question mark. His wife has not denounced him because we are a society that is subject to violence, but the children who have been educated does not justify the action, and also that there is no denunciation. The family in this case had psychological problems.
The statement of the victim's wife contradicts the statements of the children. As a lawyer, I also have some questions, if you have a husband, isn't it normal not to call him when he doesn't come home for two days? I am concerned about the continuation of children's lives in normality, without their conscience bothering them, where they calmly ate and slept. There is also the contradiction of the engagement, where the family that wanted to tie the knot pulled back as soon as it became known about their desire to get an education. There are some collisions that the competent bodies will reveal," said the lawyer.
The three children of Pëllumb Meta will appear today in front of the court where they will also be introduced to the security measure. The eldest son of the family and the daughter are accused of murdering their father, while the younger son has been arrested for not reporting the crime.
