The Special Appeals Chamber has begun the session to review the request of the Public Commissioner, who is seeking the dismissal of the Chief Prosecutor of Lezha, Erjon Shehaj.
The Public Prosecutor's Institution is represented in this session by the head of SPAK, Altin Dumani, who has also assumed the powers of this institution after the completion of the vetting process.
Altin Dumani, in this session, listed the allegations revealed by the Public Commissioner, in which significant shortcomings and excess of powers by the Chief Prosecutor of Lezha, Erjon Shehaj, were discovered.
During the session, Dumani also focused on the pillar of professional skills and listed Erjon Shehaj's files that were found to contain problems.
"The subject has not provided convincing explanations for the cases. The violations found are mainly in the professional criteria. For one of the investigative cases, Shehaj has not carried out any investigative actions. It concerns a file from 2014 on charges of intimidation and assault due to duty.
The complainant in this case was a police officer, but Shehaj has registered the case only for the charge of assault due to duty, not that of intimidation. This is even though there was evidence that the complainant had felt threatened due to duty. Shehaj has not carried out any investigative actions, by not seizing the security cameras", Dumani is reported to have said.
