Today, the residents of Rrjoll have moved their protest to the Shkodra Prosecutor's Office.

They ask justice to have its say, then to freely continue the proceedings.

Residents accuse this of being a politically motivated property grab. Now they are moving to protest in front of the Shkodra municipality.

On February 6, residents forcibly stopped the company's employees from continuing the work, while clashes continued on Saturday, when police escorted some of the residents to the police station.

The legitimate landowners announce that they will not withdraw from the protests until the project is completely suspended.

Residents are requesting a meeting with investor Bashkim Ulaj, while their condition is to suspend the works until an agreement is reached.

Among those protesting are citizens from Kosovo who have purchased land in this area.

Bashkim Ulaj, known as Berisha's businessman before Rama came to power, is now the largest beneficiary of public assets and money, over 3 billion euros.

In a statement to the media, the protesters stated that:

"Four generations, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, that we are here. Are you giving us orders, sir? My grandfather left me here, my father left me here, I left myself here. We call once again on the Albanian state, with a drop of saliva, to find out exactly where someone's lineage may be and what heir he had there. If there was, let it be written in full.

We call on the people to support us and on all state institutions to put their hand on their heart, not to abandon this people to bloodshed.

"You have also seen what the police have been doing for two days now. We are staying more in the police than in our lands. We call on the state to give us a solution, we call on that court to give us a solution. I thank you all and with respect."

Another resident, Elena Pjeshka, said that what is happening is an injustice.

"My uncles, my father, my grandfather are alive. We want justice! Please, please. We came from England. I was just like this girl when I took my father there to see our lands, and today they won't let us sit down there."

It is our right. Today we came from England, we are alive, we have endured rain, snow, and storms here. And we want our blood! Nothing stops us. This land is ours. There is a land, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, four great-grandfathers have left there. Today they tell us that the land is not ours. Who is he? We want justice! We want justice! We want justice! We want justice! Today we want answers! Today! Let the state answer me, I call on Edi Rama, the police…”.

On the other hand, the Shkodra police have not issued any official statement, even though they have been sending dozens of officers to Rrjoll for days. The protesters are being held at the police station for 3-4 hours and then released without any explanation as to the reasons for their detention.

Ulaj and his brothers have received special status as strategic investors for the tourist village that will be built on the border between Rana e Hedhun and the Baks-Rrjoll area in Shkodër.
