The World Health Organization has decided as an objective to declare a tobacco-free Europe in 2040.

While world health experts think that this year the smoking level will be no more than 5%, in Albania this figure is increasing.

A recent World Bank report has highlighted that 38.8% of Albanians are tobacco consumers.

In an interview for Euroneës Albania, the expert on tobacco protection policies, Roland Shuperka, says that our country has a hard time achieving this objective.

Despite the situation, Albania is ranked among the first 90 countries in the world in terms of policies designed to prevent smoking, but some of them are unenforceable.

The expert suggests that smokers who cannot break the habit switch to using alternative products without burning.

Alternative smokeless tobacco products are used by nearly 30% of smokers in some European countries, as far as Albania is concerned, these products are used by less than 5% of smokers.
