60 families are demanding a halt to the works, as they accuse businessman Ulaj, in collaboration with the leader of the Freedom Party in Malësia e Madhe, Fatmir Shpellzaj, of robbing them of their properties. Shpellzaj is the leader of the Freedom Party in Malësia e Madhe, and also a member of the Municipal Council in Malësia e Madhe under the slogan "Together We Win" (Berisha-Meta).
"I have them with documents, I brought them to SPAK. I took them to the courts, everyone tells me what's wrong. The strong man took them, how are they going to give them to me. Bashkim Ulaj has no chance of getting in there. We didn't come to fight, we have no interest in confronting the police, we came for transparency to show the Albanian state what criminals there are here. There is no municipality for the villagers, there is a municipality for those who work in state institutions, Shpellzaj worked in the municipality. In 2020, the State Attorney's Office informed us, after Shpellzaj took the properties, when we went to take them. Some properties, the strong man took them," said one of the protesters.
