Analyst Andi Bushati and SP MP Ermonela Felaj debated the promises that the SP is making through Prime Minister Rama that it will join Albania in the EU before 2030. Bushati said that until a decade ago, the SP's rhetoric was that we have done our duties, but it is the EU conjuncture that does not love us and that is why we are being penalized, now Albanians are being asked for votes with hypocrisy, as if it is the achievements that integrate us and not the conjuncture.

Bushati: There are two things that I don't like and I don't agree with. It seems like a disingenuous statement to me. First, Ms. Felaj says that this is how I joined the SP in 2009, a safe place opened up for me, some others left and the same thing is happening. The problem is that the fact that you joined like this may have been a mistake. You may have joined wrongly and come out wrong. A democratic and modern party does not create characters out of nothing. I cannot suddenly find myself, who is a slut there who says that Rama has a defect that he works more than he should, and become an MP. People get involved, follow a hierarchy and running for MP is the end of a journey of a longer career. Here, one person decides. For me, the essence is an autocratic party where one person decides.
The second, the card that is being used often, the EU. Okay, we can call it a success, but we have to be coherent and honest. In 2016 to 2020, when we were being hit by the EU, the SP's rhetoric was, we have done our homework, but it is the EU conjuncture that does not love us and that is why we are being penalized. We cannot say now that we are getting in because we are close to perfect. Even today we cannot avoid the conjuncture, so we can get in because the EU needs expansion. Going out on the campaign trail with this thing that does not depend on merits or the work you have done but on someone else who has a geopolitical approach. It is not a card that you can ask people for votes.
Felaj: You mentioned new names, the exception is not the rule. There are more well-known figures, not only in politics, but from public life. An example is your colleague on the Tirana list.
Bushati: With what contribution?
Felaj: Contributions within a party do not necessarily make a candidate. It is enough to have a good record in public life and this is a good basis for having a candidate for the Albanian Parliament tomorrow. Of course, new ways have also been used to renew a party that is running for a fourth governing mandate. We have had our mistakes, our problems, which have also had their impact on the voters.
Secondly, you summarized our journey to the EU. We must separate the facts from the comments and opinions. The fact is that we have opened negotiations, we have opened several chapters, it has been confirmed that Albania and Montenegro will join.
The negotiations would not have opened without undertaking the justice reform. You say let's not link this to the SP. The SP is the political party that has gained power, that has gained the right to determine the main political directions of the country through its power. The EU, the USA, every other factor have it as an interlocutor.
