Queue on the Maliq-Gramsh axis

After the diversion of traffic from the Maliq-Gramsh axis, long lines of vehicles have been created on this segment, which currently serves as one of the only alternatives for connecting the southeast with the capital. The diversion came after the decision to completely block traffic on the “Librazhd-Pogradec” axis, due to the risk of the collapse of the bridge in the “Arrat e Gurrës” area, near Dragostunja.

The Albanian Road Authority (ARRSH) announced the closure of the Prrenjas-Librazhd segment, while the Elbasan Police confirmed the total blockade of the “Librazhd-Pogradec” axis until further notice. According to the official announcement, the measure was taken due to the worsening landslide in the area, which threatens the collapse of the bridge.

Only ambulances, fire engines and police vehicles will be allowed to circulate in this segment. All other categories of vehicles, including heavy tonnage vehicles, buses and small vehicles, will not be allowed to pass.

The police emphasize that the measure is mandatory and requires the cooperation of drivers to comply with it.

For small vehicles, the Maliq–Lozhan–Moglicë–Gramsh axis has been designated as an alternative route, in the direction of Tirana and vice versa. However, this route presents problems.

The traffic police have set up two checkpoints along this axis and advise drivers to be extra careful, as landslides and asphalt cracks have been identified at five different points.

Also, in the Maliq-Moglice-Gramsh segment, the circulation of heavy vehicles and buses is not allowed.

Due to the increased traffic flow following the traffic diversion, long lines of vehicles and slow movement have been reported in some areas.
