After the meeting with the Greek MP, Beleri "gets braver": The charges

The imprisoned mayor of Himara, Fredi Beleri, reacted through a post on Facebook a day after the meeting he had with the Greek deputy of the New Democracy party, Angelos Syrigos.

From prison, Beleri revealed the conversation he had with the Greek legislator, where he states that he made it clear that he expects the immediate swearing-in as the mayor of Himara.

After the meeting, which seems to have "emboldened" him, Beleri added that he expects the charges brought against him to be dropped, as according to him they are unfair and that he is ready to start the job of running the municipality of Himara after his release.

" I thank from the bottom of my heart the professor, deputy of the New Democracy and my close friend, Mr. Angelos Syrigos, who visited me in Tirana prison, envoy of the Greek Prime Minister, Mr. Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

From Mr. I asked Angelos Syrigos to convey to the Prime Minister of Greece my decision, which is the request of all the people of Himara, to immediately take office as Mayor to stop the looting of the properties of the Greek community.

They prepared a law that supposedly aimed to develop the area by attracting foreign capital. To date, not a single foreigner has invested in our area. All those who have been announced as strategic investors are all Albanians with ties to the government.

Our goal is, also, to live in a democratic state where there are no differences for the ethnicity of its citizens and to stop the policies of blackmailing the population.

I told Syrigos that I expect three things:

- to immediately swear in as mayor, whose people elected me.

- to be released from prison, so that I can exercise my duty as mayor.

- to drop the unfair, ridiculous, tendentious and baseless charge against me.

In the person of the Greek Prime Minister, we thank Greece for fighting alongside us to ensure our human rights ," writes Beleri.
