On the eve of the Tirana Municipal Elections, the Socialist Party has officially announced the candidacy of Ogerta Manastirliu, while the opposition remains without a confirmed name.
On the "3D" show on RTSH, former candidate for MP Aulon Kalaja harshly criticized the Democratic Party's delay in preparing for the electoral race.
"While the opposition should have prepared with a name, now it's wasted time and the candidate who was supposed to appear yesterday won't appear tomorrow either, because he didn't appear today," said Kalaja.
He emphasized that the majority announced its candidate on September 11, while the opposition did not reflect the seriousness required for such a competition.
"Edi Rama, with all his state machinery, with MPs and ministers, has a declared name. We have no candidate from the opposition. Politics must be serious," he emphasized.
Kalaja assessed that the opposition has missed a critical moment since February, when Erion Veliaj was arrested, by not presenting a clear figure for mayor.
"The opposition should have come up with a shadow name at that moment. Now it seems like a competition has opened up about who should not run, not who should run. This is madness," he said.
Kalaja described Ogerta Manastirliu as a weak candidate, but with strong party support, while calling on the DP to clarify its position in relation to allied parties.
"The DP should also share its mind with the parties around it. Are they crutches for the government, or have they shared their minds for an opposition front?" said Kalaja.
