The President of the Republic, Bajram Begaj, has announced the opening of application procedures for the vacant position in the Constitutional Court.
The vacancy was created after the end of the mandate of Constitutional Court judge Sonila Bejtja. Upon the opening of the procedure, any interested person who meets the conditions and criteria provided for in the Constitution must submit an application to the Institution of the President of the Republic.
Presidency Announcement:
The President of the Republic, after being acquainted with the notification of the President of the Constitutional Court, no. 820 Prot., dated 24.10.2025, through which it is announced that the Constitutional Court, with decision no. 65, dated 24.10.2025, has decided: "Declaration of the end of the mandate of the judge of the Constitutional Court, Ms. Sonila Bejtja, on 25.4.2025", thus legally establishing the fact that on 25.4.2025 a vacancy was created in the Constitutional Court.
In accordance with Articles 93, 125, 127, point 1, letter “b” of the Constitution, as well as Articles 7, 7/a, 7/b of Law No. 8577, dated 10.2.2000, “On the Organization and Functioning of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Albania”, as amended, the President of the Republic, in his capacity as the appointing authority, and in order to fill the vacancy created in the Constitutional Court on 25.4.2025, by Decree No. 387, dated 31.10.2025, has approved:
Announcement of the application procedure for the appointment of a judge to the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Albania, in order to fill the vacancy created on 25.4.2025.
The President of the Republic invites:
Any interested person who meets the conditions and criteria provided for in the Constitution, Article 7/a of Law No. 8577, dated 10.2.2000, “On the organization and functioning of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Albania”, as amended, may participate in this open public competition procedure for the above vacancy for judge in the Constitutional Court and submit to the Institution of the President of the Republic:
The request for expression of interest to run for the announced vacancy;
Curriculum vitae with full contact details (address, phone number, e-mail);
Photocopy of identity card;
The accompanying documentation through which it certifies the fulfillment of the conditions and criteria set out in Article 7/a of Law No. 8577, dated 10.2.2000, “On the organization and functioning of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Albania”, as amended”;
The self-declaration form completed and signed according to the provisions of Law No. 138/2015, “On guaranteeing the integrity of persons elected, appointed or exercising public functions”. The self-declaration form is published on the main website of the Institution of the President of the Republic;
The completed application form “For information before appointment/election to high positions”, in accordance with the legal provisions of Article 29 of Law No. 45/2015, “On the right to information on documents of the former State Security of the People's Socialist Republic of Albania”. This form is published on the main page of the Institution of the President of the Republic;
The list of documentation to be submitted along with the application signed by the applicant.
For the convenience of all applicants, in order to complete the necessary documentation, below you will find the content of Article 125, points 4 and 5 of the Constitution and Article 7/a of Law No. 8577, dated 10.2.2000, "On the Organization and Functioning of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Albania", as amended, which provides for the conditions and criteria for the appointment of a judge of the Constitutional Court.
