Internet tapping, Abilekaj: Thieves did it, without a VKM and legal basis! Tela: They are free to control everything

The installation of DPI devices to monitor and eavesdrop on internet users has raised concerns about privacy violations.

Invited to the show "Të Paekspozuarit", analyst Enton Abilekaj said that this has been done in a sneaky way and there is neither a VKM nor any legal basis for the use of these devices in the country, in the name of blocking TikTok. While journalist Andi Tela said that with these devices, state authorities will control everything in our lives.

Excerpts from the studio conversation:

Enton Abilekaj: We still have no official notification from AKEP that these DPI have been installed. They only put it on TV that you go out and say that some people are insulting you. They called you thieves. They said that we installed them but we are not eavesdropping on you. No word on whose order these came from. Is there a VKM, any legal basis.

Andi Tela: The moment you pick up the phone, people navigate the internet. You are an individual who uses it. Apart from these two gentlemen who know everything, the rest do not know. DPI will check every detail that you are seeing. So, it blocks TikTok, but it can control everything. It blocks it in Britain, it blocks it in France, but there every action is controlled through the law, the legal and sub-legal acts that have been established.

The law is missing here. You were talking about elections, but patronage has spied on and understood everything about the individual in relation to them. When our data has been taken for years and put on the market, this has happened with salaries, with everyone's personal data.

Now comes a moment when, due to the blocking of TikTok, we are being given some devices that are placed on the basis of complete control. There are seven highways that bring internet to Albania. Blocking "tools" are placed and everything that enters the individual is controlled.

They control everything. Maybe they don't control the conversation I have with you on WhatsApp, because the WhatsApp system itself blocks that. But that I am talking to you on WhatsApp, everyone knows that. They find out and they are now free to control every detail of our lives. That's the problem. Because nothing stops them, there is no law. They are free to control everything in our lives.
