Beqaj angry with Rama: Why did you reward the person who sued me in SPAK?
Former Minister of Health, Ilir Beqaj, is irritated with Edi Rama and his SP colleagues for the vote they gave to Endri Shabani to make him Ombudsman. Today, the next court hearing on the Sterilization issue was held, and Ilir Beqaj recalled that the person who sued him is the one who is today the Ombudsman.
Endri Shabani will be among the first on the list to be called as a witness in court. We recall that in 2019, on December 23, it was Nisma Thurje, led by Endri Shabani, that filed a lawsuit with SPAK. But this has angered Beqaj, after Rama rewarded the person who "gets rid" of one of the biggest thieves in the country.
" The report was filed on December 23, 2019. Like today, exactly 6 years ago. And today this person is among the first on the list of prosecution witnesses. So, today we have this paradox: The one who should be the voice of the citizen in front of the government, appears in the line of the accusation; the one who should be a guarantee against arbitrariness, appears as part of the mechanism that feeds it. According to his public statements, he has expressed that he is happy that I am in handcuffs, even though this is not related to his report. According to those same statements, he was aware that the same criminal fact had been investigated previously and the investigation had been discontinued; however, he filed a report again, without any new evidence ," said Beqaj.
According to him, the position of citizen protection is used as a political podium, while the citizen is left without the minimum means to defend himself in court. Further, he directly attacked deputies with whom he once sat in the same chair. While he seemed irritated with Shabani's "kiss".
" For me, who comes from politics, it is no surprise that the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group votes for a high constitutional position a political opponent and a person who has criminally reported projects and contracts of the Socialist Party government. The political history of Albania from 1912 to the present has seen even more. World history from ancient Rome to the present has seen much more. What surprised me was not the vote. It was the kiss. Not the usual human kiss. The hand kiss from afar. Deputies who have been in Parliament for 4 months and deputies who have been there for 20 years. Everyone was equally moved by the kiss. Exciting, synchronized applause followed, with intensity as if some important law had been passed. Or maybe these 18 months I have lost my sense of reality ," he said.
So, it seems that like many others, Iliri now realized that Rama sells everyone out, even those who were once his friends. However, Endri Shabani deserves some appreciation, as he "rewarded" the man he removed from politics and brought to justice the man who stole from all positions. When he was Minister of Health, he stole without accounting. But they don't say for nothing that "habit comes with the soul".
