The court's decision is related to suspicions of illegal construction and abuse of office.
Rigers Sheqeri, head of IMT in Tirana, has been suspended from duty by a court decision, following a request from the capital's Prosecutor's Office.
According to reports, the decision taken a few days ago comes after a request from prosecutor Julian Xhengo, who is investigating the official of the Inspectorate of Territorial Protection, Rigers Sheqeri, for abuse of office.
More specifically, according to reports, the Prosecution is investigating a suspected scheme involving permits and construction in the capital, allegedly allowed by the head of IMT.
A builder has also been included in the investigation, for whom a security measure prohibiting him from leaving the country has been imposed.
With the same decision, two IMT inspectors have also been declared wanted. The investigations include suspicions of a structure within the institution that may have tolerated or favored illegal construction.
While the investigations continue, they come at a time when almost every day the Prime Minister is announcing on social media the vacating of spaces considered illegal constructions. This action began immediately after Edi Rama initiated the procedures for the dismissal of Erion Veliaj as Mayor of Tirana, which were later deemed unconstitutional by the Constitutional Court.
