As the Assembly is expected to convene in plenary session today, a citizen protest has been announced outside the building.

It is learned that at around 9:00, residents of the Velipoja District, and those affected by the TID project in Durres, will 'land' in front of the Parliament, where they will protest for their rights.

They claim that their properties are being occupied.

The "Epidamn" Boulevard, which connects the Municipality of Durrës with the entrance to the port, was built about a century ago, after the severe earthquake of 1926. The street changed its name several times, but it is etched in the memory of the residents of Durrës as "Commercial Street" because of the shops on both sides of it.

As part of the historic center, the “Epidamn” boulevard will undergo a revitalization project known as TID Durrës, which is being implemented through a cooperation agreement between the Albanian-American Development Fund, the Ministry of Culture, and the Municipality of Durrës.

But the project has caused concerns, as it envisages affecting dozens of private properties and expropriating them at values below market value.

Meanwhile, the residents of the village of Rrjoll are against the construction of the Bashkim Ulajt resort in Rrjoll, claiming that their properties have been stolen.

Residents have filed an official request with the Prosecutor's Office, requesting a swift legal solution regarding the authenticity of the documents they have for land ownership in the Rrjoll area, where the Bashkim Ulaj tourist resort is being built.

"Away with the thieves! We will not give up our lands! We want justice! Where is the man who won't come to confront us?" were some of the cries of the residents at the protests a few days ago.
