The bodies of four members of the Kola family arrived this morning at the port of Durrës, following the tragedy that occurred on February 4 in Porcari, Lucca province in Italy.

The victims are Arti Kola, 48, his wife Jonida Kola, 43, and their two children, Hadjar Kola, 22, and Jessica Kola, 15. According to Italian authorities, the family died as a result of carbon monoxide poisoning in their apartment.

The Kola family was originally from the village of Gryksh i Madh, in Peqin. Arti Kola worked as a painter in a company, while his wife was a housewife. The 22-year-old son was employed as an electrician in a private company, while the 15-year-old daughter was a student.

According to Italian media reports, carbon monoxide, an odorless gas, caused the deaths of the family members without them being given the opportunity to understand the danger. The apartment where the incident occurred is located in the Rughi area and was purchased about a year and a half ago by the family, who had moved there only five months earlier. The two-story house was still in the process of being furnished.

The investigation is focusing on the heating system, specifically the boiler, which appears to be new. Authorities are verifying who installed the device and whether the necessary technical maintenance has been carried out. So far, there are no doubts about the cause of death, which is related to carbon monoxide poisoning.
