The State Police warns the PD and the participants that blocking the roads is a violation and that those who attempt to do so will face the consequences.
The next day, the Democratic Party organized a protest in the capital, but also warned that it will block several roads in 5-6 other cities.
In this regard, the State Police addressed a letter to the DP, where it rejected the request to block the roads and appealed to it to withdraw from this activity.
" Based on the object of the request made for the development of gatherings on some road axes, the State Police has replied to the organizers that it undertakes the guarantee of gatherings that do not block the free movement of vehicles and citizens ," the announcement states.
In its letter, the police state that it guarantees the right to assembly, the rights and freedoms of participants in assemblies, but without infringing the free movement of citizens and vehicles.
Furthermore, the State Police warns the PD and the participants that blocking the roads is a violation and that those who attempt to do so will face the consequences.
" Blocking road axes is a criminal offense provided for by Article 293 of the Criminal Code, and anyone who takes action to block roads will face the consequences of violating this article ," the police announced.

The State Police/Representatives of the political entity Democratic Party of Albania have submitted the request for the development of gatherings, from 17:00 to 20:00 on 29.10.2024, on several main roads in the country, specifically: "Tirana- Durrës", near the Kamza overpass; "Durrës-Tirana", near the Shkozeti overpass; "Kashar-Milot", near the intersection of Milot; "Elbasan-Tirana", at the Bradashes roundabout; "Durrës-Fier", at the roundabout of Rrogozhina and "Levan-Tepelen", at the roundabout of Levan.
The State Police guarantees the right to assembly, the rights and freedoms of participants in assemblies, but without infringing the free movement of citizens and vehicles.
Based on and in implementation of the Law "On Gatherings", the State Police has undertaken all measures to guarantee public order, the implementation of the rights and freedoms of citizens and participants in gatherings, as well as the protection of public and private property.
Based on the object of the request made for the development of gatherings on some road axes, the State Police has replied to the organizers that it undertakes to guarantee gatherings that do not block the free movement of vehicles and citizens.
Blocking road axes is a criminal offense provided for by Article 293 of the Criminal Code, and anyone who takes action to block roads will face the consequences of violating this article.
In the meantime, in order to come to the aid of the citizens who will travel on the above road axes, the State Police has taken measures to divert the traffic of vehicles to alternative roads in the event of a blockage.
Also, citizens who want to travel to Rinas, in order to leave the country, should, due to the traffic that can be created, arrive at the airport before 17:00, or use alternative routes to arrive on time.
The State Police appeals once again for law enforcement and respect for the free movement of citizens and vehicles, during the hours of gatherings.
