The fire which started around noon in the area of Dhërmi village has been brought under control by firefighters. This is also thanks to the intervention that took place with a helicopter.
Meanwhile, the area below Qafa e Llogora and in the place where the paratroopers jump continues to be on fire, while the wind blowing from the southern part is also helping.
Minister of Defense Niko Peleshi has shared the images of the aircraft, which intervened due to the difficult terrain in the affected area, through social networks.
According to the minister, the situation with the flames was somewhat problematic for the intervention with vehicles, but the troops are working to bring the fire under complete control.
"The Cougar helicopter and FA operatives have gone to the aid of the forces that are trying to put out the fire this afternoon in Dhërmi. Due to the difficult terrain, the situation has been somewhat problematic for intervention with vehicles, but the troops are working to bring the flames under complete control.
We call on all local structures to intervene immediately when they notice fires to prevent them from spreading to a wider area. The FA, the Civil Defense Agency and the Ministry of Defense are on full alert whenever their assistance is required," he wrote on Facebook.
The police themselves reacted by saying that the cause of the fire was an electric spark in one of the high voltage poles.
"Today, in the "Kondraq" neighborhood, Dhërmi, it is suspected that due to an electric spark as a result of the high voltage line in this neighborhood, a fire broke out and an area with various vegetation and bushes is burning.
Police services are at the scene, who have established a security perimeter to avoid any possible danger.
The fire services, with the help of the FA helicopter, continue the work to extinguish the fire in cooperation with OSHEE employees and Himar Police officers.
The investigative group is working to fully elucidate the circumstances of the incident and to determine the cause of the fire," said the police.
