126 in May alone, road accidents increase by 47 percent!

The number of road accidents marked a significant increase in the first five months of this year. According to data published by INSTAT, in the period January-May 2024, a total of 626 accidents occurred, with an increase of almost 47% compared to the same period a year ago.

The number of dead and injured women in these accidents increased by 22% and the number of men by 59%. INSTAT reports that in relation to the population, the number of victims who lost their lives has decreased.

"During the first 5 months of 2024, road accident mortality is 10.1 per 100 accidents, from 16.9 in the same period a year ago."

In May alone, 126 road accidents are counted, of which 167 are accidents (killed and injured).

Road accidents, in 86.5% of cases, occurred as a result of the driver's behavior. The highest number of accidents, in this period, was committed by the 25-34 age group, accounting for 29.4% of the total number of accidents.
