While commenting on the scandal in Oncology, doctor Besnik Jakaj stated that the Health system has degraded and that there is a lack of medicines.
In an interview in "Ora News", he said that Oncology is the tip of the iceberg, as there are many problems in our health system.
Jakaj: Of course, the Oncology file for what it represents because it is about tumor patients who go through a dramatic ordeal of suffering and not today not in this case but very long ago, it is very dramatic, very sensitive and gives an alarm about the whole degradation of the health system in Albania.
The problem is much deeper. I would like to refer to the reaction of the HCSC, and the head of the HCSC, who said that we have prepared a mountain of files specifically for the Oncology hospital and for the major problems with drug treatment and for the lack of drugs in this hospital.
It is not only the problem of Oncology, there are dozens of media chronicles that have been made about the lack of oncopediatric drugs.
Coordinators are running the University Hospital Center, doctors do not have access to press for the missing drugs.
Medicines are not missing only in the Oncology Department, they are missing in all the wards.
They are missing because they are not imported to Albania.
