The residents of Tragjas are protesting again today against the water supply project.
Residents say that this project envisages taking over the village's water source.
Residents of Tragjas, Radhima and Orikum oppose the project which aims to take water from the Izvor spring to supply water to Dhërmi, Palasa, Jala, etc.
In the latest protest, there was a clash between protesters and police, after the latter, along with the company's workers, had arrived in the village to begin the works. The residents reacted harshly to this situation, clashing with the authorities to protect their water source.
Regarding this project, Prime Minister Edi Rama said that the project poses no threat to drinking water, and described the residents' protest as madness. The head of government stated that the project foresees that the use that will be made of this source is 2 times smaller than the minimum flow and in all cases what remains unused by the system is more than sufficient for the entire ecological environment. Rama adds that this project does not pose a threat to the vital needs of the people of Tragjas.
