Residents of Durrës affected by the TID project have continued their opposition to its implementation this week, stating that they have not received any concrete solution after the meeting with Prime Minister Edi Rama.
According to them, the project, which affects a significant number of homes in neighborhood no. 3, violates property rights and does not guarantee a fair expropriation process. They say they will not allow the demolition of homes and warn of resistance if any means of demolition are used.
" I don't leave my house ," said one of the residents, adding: " What Europe, this is putting us in a hole. He is behaving like Sultan Murat ."
Some of them have also used strong statements, warning that they will stay inside their homes in case of intervention, even talking about extreme sacrifice. These statements were made in the context of their protest and there is no information about concrete actions in this regard.
After meeting with the prime minister on Saturday, residents have begun collecting signatures for a petition addressed to the mayor of Durrës, Emiriana Sako, and the Inspectorate of Territorial Protection (IMT), demanding the cancellation of the decision that required them to voluntarily vacate their apartments by February 16.
They demand the suspension of the TID project, the opening of a dialogue with the authorities on the fate of their properties, and a review of the value of the expropriation, claiming that compensation should be made according to the real market value.
