Residents of the village of Hotolisht took to the streets today to protest against the project to expand the Librazhd-Prrenjas national road, part of Corridor VIII, which they say threatens to destroy homes, lands and the lives of the community.
Children and high school students also took part in the protest, while previously there were also tensions with police officers.
In a symbolic gesture, the residents have also brought a coffin with them, while the banners read: We are ready to respond! Either us or you!
"The institutions continue to be silent, no reflection and no dialogue. We are forced to express a protest with the symbol of the last house for us, the coffin. The community will react in its own way. We clearly declare that whoever attempts to touch Hotolišti without an honest agreement with the residents will push the situation to a path of no return. Without violence, but with absolute determination. We seek solutions without social costs. We love our country and are ready to defend it by any legal means. Tomorrow may be too late," said one of the residents in his speech.
