The People's Advocate will send observers to the field during today's protest in front of the Prime Minister's Office of the "Albania Becomes" party.
Despite the fierce clashes for a seat in the Assembly after the May 11 elections, Endrit Shanani, in his capacity as Ombudsman, has taken measures to guarantee respect for legal standards and the rights of citizens participating in the protest.
"The Ombudsman informs the public that, within the framework of exercising his constitutional mandate to protect fundamental human rights and freedoms, he has taken measures to monitor the protest organized today by the "Albania Becomes" party."
A team of observers from the Ombudsman has been deployed in the field, while relevant structures have been put on standby to be present, as needed, at police stations and health institutions. This engagement aims to closely monitor any follow-up action and ensure respect for legal standards and citizens' rights.
"The Ombudsman will continue to monitor the situation and will exercise his legal powers in accordance with developments on the ground," the Ombudsman institution announces.
