As all eyes are on today's Serbia-Albania match, protests have erupted in many Serbian cities. Rallies in support of Serbs in Kosovo are being held in more than 200 areas across Serbia, organized by the Center for Social Stability and the "Građani protiv blocada" movement.
Rallies are taking place in cities and villages from Subotica to Vranje, including Belgrade, Novi Sad, Kragujevac, Niš, Kruševci, Zrenjanin, Kraljevo and Leskovac, where in the evening the Albanian national team will play Serbia.
According to organizers, the rallies will start at 5:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said the gatherings are “a sign of solidarity and national unity” and are intended to show support for the Serbian people in Kosovo, as well as opposition to “blockades and political violence.”
Vučić stressed that this is the largest number of locations where such gatherings are organized to date, including many small villages.
He called for "unity and calm," saying that Serbia must maintain its stability and show that it supports peace and coexistence.
