Analyst Ergys Mërtiri spoke about the political situation in the country. Mërtiri stated that the opposition started the year 2024 with strong protests, but that it ended up making agreements with the government, which are serious for the country.
"The opposition started with protests, smoke and flames and then compromised, made an agreement, having two Commissions, not very important. The Rama-Berisha agreements were serious for the country. One of them was that sentences for corruption were forgiven by SPAK and it is serious on the part of the opposition, which forgives thieves. Even more serious was the Rama-Berisha agreement on the Electoral Code, to keep Rama in power and Berisha in the opposition, to eliminate other politicians. The protests are theater, to cover the fact that they are together. With his generosity, Rama forgave Berisha's mandate and left Sali Berisha in the parliament. The majority needs a weak opposition and therefore needs Berisha. Any opposition to Berisha is weak for Rama. Polls show that Edi Rama has fallen in some districts to 42 percent, Berisha is to 35 percent, but there are cases where it is even weaker," said Mërtiri.
Further, Mërtiri said that the opposition, in order to defeat the government, must win the gray electorate.
"Berisha joins the opposition and weakens the PD." To win the elections, you have to win the gray electorate, you have to have a reason. One of the reasons why people don't vote for the opposition is that the conflict and the way they react in 30 years has come to the tip of the Albanians' noses. PD wants to win the internal war, to keep the opposition. Sali Berisha is known to be rationally corrupt as a politician, he has declared war on the whole world, against Soros, as if the world is conspiring against him. The opposition cannot continue with dreams. I don't believe that Trump will remove Berisha's wives", he said in News 24.
According to Mërtiri, SPAK has left the Prime Minister Rama fillikat, after sending for trial all those who were close to him. For Mürtir, SPAK is the most independent institution in the country.
"The support for the government has dropped to 40 percent. For me, this government has the worst image that any government has ever had, and that's thanks to SPAK. SPAK has left Rama alone, as his friends are on their way to prison. Edi Rama has no alibi to stay in power, except for using the name of Sali Berisha. SPAK is the most independent institution in the country. The one that influences SPAK the most is the international factor. I believe that these elections will bring innovation, as there will be a third pole. If the young are mature, they will emerge together. They have 20 percent support and will be tomorrow's opposition. This pole can overturn the current political establishment", declared Mërtiri.
