At the request of the Berat Prosecutor's Office, the General Director of the Police Supervision Agency, Florian Sulejmani, has been suspended from duty.
He is suspected of abuse of office, as there are reasonable suspicions based on evidence that he transferred a police officer in violation of the law.
Speaking on the news edition of MCN TV, journalist Arsen Rusta said that Artiol Salijasi has currently taken over the position of AMP director. He emphasizes that if the investigations are deepened and elements of bribery or blackmail are found, Sulejmani risks prison.
Rusta pointed out that the suspension of the Berat Prosecutor's Office conveys the message that justice is not only the door of SPAK, where even a peripheral prosecution body can remove an important official from office.
" I have learned from sources that there are several reports, one of them is concrete. One of the AMP officers went to the prosecutor to make his referral. He claims that his transfer was done illegally. Whether he was asked for money or not, we do not know yet. This has convinced the prosecutor to go to court.
It's not a suspension because the prosecutor decided it, but because the court approved it. The court was convinced, the prosecutor collected evidence, there were wiretaps, they received transfer orders, how an officer in the Berat district was moved unjustly, it's already been proven.
It's a bit ironic because it's the head of the department who should monitor police violations and the prosecution finds them on its own, and this prosecutor has even taken him to court. Article 242 states suspension by court decision. Florian Sulejmani's CV is quite rich, but the AMP position gave him significant self-confidence, and instead of investigating the police, he results in violations.
Artiol Salijasi has taken over the leadership of AMP, because he is the acting deputy director. In case abuse of office is proven, as a precautionary measure, the Berat Court has decided to suspend him, because it could affect the evidence, the facts, the orders it has. He also risks prison if the investigations are deepened, or if bribery, threats, blackmail are proven. The departure from AMP is not surprising.
The Minister of Interior will have to propose his dismissal to the Council of Ministers. For me, up until now, he has not found the courage to be professional with the "old jackets", the bosses or the heads of the Police.
"Today's suspension conveys a message that justice is not only the door of SPAK, even a peripheral prosecutor's office can remove an important official from office. Even the Berat Prosecutor's Office can be removed from service. Not everything in SPAK ," he said.
