The General Director of the Police Supervision Agency, Florian Sulejmani, has been suspended from duty at the request of the Berat Prosecutor's Office.
According to information made public by the Agency, Sulejmani is suspected of abusing his position, having transferred judicial police officers in violation of the law.
Investigations are ongoing to fully elucidate the incident.
According to information from AMP, he abused his office by transferring judicial police officers, in violation of the law.
" At the request of the Berat Prosecutor's Office, the General Director of the Police Supervision Agency is suspended from duty."
At the request of the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance, Berat, the security measure 'Suspension of the exercise of a public duty or service' was imposed on citizen FS, acting as General Director of the Police Supervision Agency.
This measure was taken within the framework of criminal proceedings no. 613/1 of 2025, registered for the criminal offense of "Abuse of office", provided for by Article 248 of the Criminal Code.
Based on the circumstances of the fact and the entirety of the acts administered up to this stage of the investigation, it was deemed that the general and specific conditions and criteria for the imposition of personal security measures of a preventive nature, as provided for in Articles 228, 229 and 242 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, are met.
In the assessment of the prosecution and the confirmation of the court, there is a reasonable suspicion based on evidence that the person under investigation transferred judicial police officers in complete violation of Article 10, point 1, letter "c" and Article 22 of Law No. 25/2019 "On the Organization and Functioning of the Judicial Police", and Article 62, point 5, of Law No. 128/2021 "On the Police Supervision Agency".
Likewise, there are important reasons that put at risk the obtaining or authenticity of the evidence. The security measure is appropriate to the need for security. Also, this preventive measure guarantees a fair relationship between the importance of the fact and the sanction that is foreseen for the specific criminal offense with the type of security measure.
"Under the guidance of the constitutional principle of the presumption of innocence and the exclusive duty of the Prosecutor's Office to conduct criminal prosecution, the Prosecutor's Office is continuing to carry out investigative actions to have a complete and comprehensive investigation ," AMP reports.
