The editorial office of the show "Stop" has been contacted by 22 emergency drivers at Durres Hospital, who say that as of August 2024 their salaries have been reduced by 16 thousand new lek. The employees say that they work 12 hours and are paid for 8.

"Our problem is from August 2024 until this month. The salary has changed by about 16 thousand new lek less."

"However, with the government's decision, salaries were increased, and the decision was made to increase our salaries, one month they were increased, the next month they were reduced by 200,000 old lek. We don't know the reason."

"We work 12 hours a day, we get paid for 8."

"Similarly, holidays, or Saturdays and Sundays, are not paid. They have written to the Hospital Directorate, but have not received a solution."

"Saturday and Sunday are not recognized at all. Only 40 hours a week."

"Saturdays and Sundays should be paid to us for as long as it is from the Council of Ministers."

"There is a board decision, that we have worked for so many years and the board decision determines that we must work 12 hours and be paid 12 hours. We want this to be reviewed and measures taken. We want to be paid for the amount of work we do."

"The doctor and nurse are paid for 12 hours, but we are not."

"We are a team that should all be paid 12 hours, we have been working 12 hours for 7 months and we are paid 8 hours."

"We have submitted a request to the Hospital Directorate, but we have not received any response to this request."

The Chief of Emergency Services, Gjergj Qerimi, explains that according to an audit, violations have resulted with drivers' payments.

"I was informed by the drivers. It is not my job to determine the salary of drivers, nurses, or even doctors. Of course I was interested, they responded and told me that according to the control that came from the fund and the Ministry of Health, it was noticed that the payments that the drivers' staff previously received were not correct, so they were given more than they should have," said the head of the Emergency Department, Gjergj Qerimi.

The journalist, along with the 22 complainants, addressed the hospital administration, and the head of the finance office, Eneda Shyti, said she would write to the Ministry to have this case reviewed.

"In July, there was decision 112 dated 22.02.2006 which states that they should be based on the Labor Code. It is a problem that has arisen in the continuity of the controls that have come. We are currently being informed. As far as I know, the drivers' part is problematic. They come to us from the ministry with VKM, determined and we implement the VKM. A profile needs to be made that this profile of 12 hours and 8 hours needs to be regulated", said the head of the Finance Office, Eneda Shyti.

The hospital's deputy director, Klementina Meçi, explains that she is awaiting the conclusions of the audit to reflect on this issue and solve the problem of the 22 emergency drivers.

"Based on decision 422, 26.06.2024, it is the relevant institution of the local unit that determines the degree of difficulty. We have addressed it with an official letter to await a response. We must tell them that we are in a process, because based on the audit of the Ministry of Health launched in December 2024, they have considered all these claims and are in the phase that will bring the relevant recommendations. Until the moment the final decision comes from the Ministry of Health, we are not taking any steps. It has been informed, it has audited, it has come to conclusions and we are only waiting for the conclusions to implement them directly. We will make the decision, we are reviewing it and we will definitely reflect. We expect all institutions to make a legal decision", the deputy director of the hospital, Klementina Meçi./tvklan.al
