The Albanian Development Fund has opened a 5 million euro tender to reconstruct the Valias Didactic Farm. The project envisages the transformation of the Farm into a multi-functional facility including the construction of a gene bank, cow and goat stables, scientific research laboratories and the construction of a luxury hotel for dogs and cats.
"The project aims to create a mixed-use space where educational activities for school curricula, research and development, and product production are integrated, thus serving as an example of the "Value Added" market for economic cycles, which also offers services in the field of agrarian-themed tourism, where in a micro-space the entire full cycle of effective use of human and territorial resources is developed, while also implementing the strategy and principles of regional development," the tender documents state.
Currently, the Experimental Didactic Farm owned by the Agricultural University is in a degraded state, with many of the buildings being out of use.
But with the new government project, this farm will change completely. "The general organization of the farm will be in the same territorial space as it is today. The old concrete structures will be demolished and replaced with new metal structures," the document says.
But what will the new farm contain?
According to the project, one of the buildings will serve as a genetic bank, where seeds of various plants will be stored in optimal conditions. But the novelty in this farm complex will be the building, which will serve as a hotel for pets and a veterinary center.
The Development Fund reveals that part of the hotel will be two areas for animal relaxation, one for cats and another for dogs. These two areas have a total area of 35 m2. Also, staff facilities, such as kitchen, toilet, etc., are foreseen in the hotel area.
"The animal accommodation is divided into two separate areas. The deluxe area, which consists of six individual rooms for dogs and four individual rooms for cats, and the second area is the standard area. This area consists of 24 small individual rooms," the tender documents state.
In addition to the genetic bank and dog hotel, the new farm will contain stables for cows, small animals, and several laboratories, while the architectural design of the complex was made by the Casanova-Hernandez studio. / Kapitali
