The government will launch a broad public consultation on the closure of social networks TIK Tok and Snapchat, following the tragic murder of 14-year-old Martin Cani by his peer.
Regarding this, IT expert Besmir Semanaj spoke in "Abcnews", who supported the closure of these social networks. He emphasized that this decision should be taken after the increase in aggressiveness and bullying on social networks
" I say that TikTok should not be closed because the murder of the 14-year-old happened. But violence on this social network has increased. We have had suicides of girls and women from this social network, we have had violence. But the question is why this social network should be closed and not others?
But if we go into the "lives" of characters who use hate speech, most of those who follow them are teenagers. The US decision has more to do with national security, this is a plus for Albania. In our country, this decision is being taken because of bullying ," he said.
Semanaj added that measures should also be taken against other social networks such as Telegram and Roblox, as they promote hate speech and teenagers can become part of groups selling drugs, weapons or pedophilia.
" Telegram has dozens of groups, where we have drug sales, pornography, arms sales, pedophilia. It is the denigration of characters, whether they are famous or not. on the other hand, we have groups, where our personal data is.
On the other hand, we have Roblox, a gaming platform. America closed it because the level of bullying on this platform was very high" , he concluded.
