Massive rockfall on the Kukës-Bushtricë axis, problems with vehicle

During the night, the entire Kukës region was hit by moderate rainfall, accompanied by occasional winds. The unstable weather created difficulties on several road axes, mainly in mountainous areas.

The rain continued until the early hours of Thursday morning and gradually stopped. As a result, rocks and debris fell from the slopes in some segments, temporarily hindering vehicle movement.

The most significant problem was identified on the Kukës-Bushtricë road axis, where rockfalls and landslides were recorded in the early hours of the day. The situation made it difficult for vehicles to move until the intervention of the responsible structures.

After the alerts, road maintenance contractors immediately intervened with vehicles and manpower, clearing the blocked segments. Currently, the national axis Kukës-Peshkopi is normally trafficable, while drivers are advised to exercise increased caution.

According to local structures, in the municipalities of Kukës, Tropojë and Has, no damage to homes or public infrastructure has been found and no emergency situations have been identified. The electricity supply has continued without interruption throughout the region.

Local authorities and emergency services remain on standby to monitor the situation, while citizens are asked to follow official announcements and exercise caution when moving, especially on mountain roads.
