The heavy rainfall that hit Durres in the early hours of the morning flooded several main and secondary streets in the city.
Water partially covered the traffic lanes and made it difficult for vehicles to move. Drivers reduced their speed to avoid damage and the risk of accidents in segments where the water level rose above the asphalt surface.
Pedestrians faced difficulties crossing intersections, where water covered white lines and sidewalk entrances. In some areas, blocked culverts could not handle the volume of rainfall in a short period of time, allowing water to pool on the surface.
The situation brings to attention the state of the drainage infrastructure in the coastal city, which cannot withstand high-intensity rainfall, as was observed this morning.
