Mufti and Head of the Orthodox Church denounce organized robbery with state permission...
In the heart of the city of Shkodra, near the "Rozafa" hotel, the construction site of a 35-story tower has begun, a tower that has revolted the local community.
The Muslim and Orthodox communities in Shkodra have publicly erupted against the construction of this building, denouncing a "second robbery" of their historic properties, this time blessed by the state and implemented by construction oligarchs.
In a joint conference, Mufti Muhamed Sytari and the head of the Orthodox Church, Father Aleksandër Petani, accused the government and justice institutions of allowing construction on a plot of land for which there are court decisions in favor of religious communities.
" Today, a flagrant robbery is taking place in the heart of Shkodra. The worst example set by the state, which allows construction on stolen property. We have won the courts, we have all the papers and paradoxically we are in this situation. The Muslim community has all the instruments to do what has not been done to date ," declared Imam Sytari, adding that any form of reaction will be used, but always within the legal framework.
He warned that this is a dangerous precedent and a serious blow to the right to property and trust. According to him, we are dealing with a "re-grabbing of legal property" that is being allowed by the state, while the institutions that should have resolved the issue remain silent or favor interested parties.
In the same line of strong accusations was Father Aleksandër Petani, who emphasized: “ In the countries we want to enter, in the European Union, the first three laws are freedom, religion and property. These are being trampled underfoot and robbed .” He added that the Orthodox community has been in court for 35 years and that the Constitutional Court has ruled on the return of property, but despite this, a private company has started construction without any consultation with the parties who have won the right by court decision. “ Religion and property are being robbed by people we do not know. We are tired. This is institutional violence with a building permit ,” he said.
The “Rofaza Tower”, which is being built by the company “Uldedaj Group”, is designed as the tallest building in the historic city of Shkodra and the next symbol of “concreteization” that has caused strong reactions since the presentation of the project. Shkodra citizens have been protesting for more than a year against the construction permit, while now even religious communities have joined in open resistance.
