Snow in May! This is the surprising weather forecast for this week. Meteorologist Tanja Porja said that from Wednesday there is a real possibility of snowfall in the Albanian mountains.
"Midweek is quite cold. We hope that there will be no snowfall in mid-May, on the mountain tops. However, all signals say that on Thursday and Friday we may have the presence of light snowfall also on the left side of the mountains in Albania, Montenegro, Kosovo and Macedonia because it is certain that on Tuesday and Wednesday in the north of the Balkans there will be snowfall again," the meteorology said.
Monday will continue with cloudy weather, short intervals of clear skies, and very little precipitation, mostly in the northern and northeastern areas of the country. The thermometer remains at quite high values both in the morning and at noon. The morning marks about 7 degrees lower, while the maximum reaches about 26-27°C.
"The unstable weather continues on Tuesday and Wednesday, with little rainfall. On Tuesday, rainfall will mainly occur in the north, partly in the center and in the northeastern areas. The same situation will occur more or less on Wednesday, until late afternoon, when rainfall expands towards the center and part of the south. It is Thursday that brings short-term showers almost throughout the entire Albanian territory. A cloud system passes very quickly on Thursday and partly on Friday, producing short showers in the north and center, while less in the south of the Albanian territory.
"Even Saturday, in its first part, will be more or less in the same atmospheric conditions, with the presence of cloudiness and short-term showers. So, in addition to today and Tuesday, from Wednesday we have strengthening cloudiness, but also an increase and intensification of precipitation in the Albanian territory," said the meteorology.
On Monday, temperatures will be high. From Tuesday, we will have a drop in temperatures only in the eastern areas, but a slight increase in temperatures continues in the rest of the territory. The maximum rises to 28°C, while on Wednesday we have a slight drop in the morning hours and a more pronounced drop, by at least 4 degrees, in the afternoon hours throughout the Albanian territory. This causes the maximum to drop within 24 hours by 4-5 degrees, from 28°C to 23 or 24°C for Wednesday.
Thursday will start with a rather cold morning, with around 3 degrees minimum values in the territory, in the first hours of the day in the deep mountainous areas. While at noon we have a slight increase in temperatures. This increase continues gradually during the mornings of Friday and Saturday.
"Friday also brings an increase in temperatures at noon, despite the presence of clouds and precipitation, due to the circulation of southern and southwestern air masses. While Saturday presents a completely different picture, with a relatively warm morning, but with temperatures at noon no more than 23°C, due to the presence of dense clouds and precipitation in the territory," she added.
