The national association of driving schools is boycotting the activity across the country, following the decision of the Department of Transport to increase the price of the driving license device.
The head of the national association of driving schools, Agron Beja, told the media that the decision taken by the Directorate of Road Transport was not discussed, nor were the interest groups informed about it. He calls some of the fee increases illogical.
"The head of the national association of driving schools, making a decision to boycott all services at the Road Transport Directorate, as its actions contradict some elements of transparency on these types of services. What is the most important, not informing the interest group, an action which is legally mandatory that 30 days before a service is approved, the interest group must be recognized for the action procedure.
This is about changing tariffs. Even today as we speak, when this decision has entered into force, in all regional directorates, driving schools as interest groups are indirectly affected by this type of action. The main violation comes as a result of lack of information. Today we still don't know what this kind of service procedure is like.
As a citizen, some of these increases do not last. The service of the driving school has increased in several aspects. Specifically, a candidate for category B driver's license, before registering at the driving school, must present to the Directorate of Road Transport a payment of 1 thousand new lek related to the authorization of the theory treatment service. The driver is subject to the theoretical part. Automatically, he must present himself to this institution on the day he feels capable of the theory, adding a service fee of 1,000 new lek", said the head of the national association of driving schools.
The boycott in all directorates will take place only today. They left a deadline until the weekend and if measures are not taken there will be a protest on Saturday before the prime minister where the country's driving schools will come and there will be an escalation of their protest.
We recall that about a year ago, the driving schools agreed on an increase in driver's license fees, but due to the controversy among the citizens, it was cancelled. Driving schools say that there should be a review as their costs are high.
We remind you that last week, the General Directorate of Road Transport Services has reviewed and indexed all the services and rates it offers. In its announcement, the Directorate says that for some categories there is an increase in the validity of driving permits, at the same time an increase in the cost.
