Asked about his case that is in the Supreme Court, the former minister said that he expects innocence.
Saimir Tahiri appeared today at the SPAK to be interrogated as a person who knows about the January 21 file.
After leaving SPAK, Tahiri told the media that he gave clarifications as a protester and as one of the witnesses of the tragic event where 4 protesters lost their lives.
"I was asked about the role I had on January 21 and the report I made in 2015. I stand by point by point what I said. My role has been a protester. We have all been protestors. It is an event that must be clarified. I really hope it will be clarified", said Tahiri.
Meanwhile, the former minister was also asked about the case against him in the Supreme Court while he said: "I expect innocence".
At the time of the January 21 protest, Tahiri held the position of deputy of the SP, while after the arrival of the SP in the government, he was appointed to the position of Minister of the Interior.
In April 2015, Tahiri, then in the position of Minister of the Interior, filed a criminal complaint against Lulzim Basha, his successor, former Minister of the Interior at the time of the protest, for abuse of office, accusing him of ordering the throwing of chemical substances on the protesters.
A day before the Special Prosecutor's Office, the deputy of the SP, Xhemal Qefalia, appeared, who testified as a person who has knowledge of the event, as he was one of the organizers of the protest of January 21, 2011 in front of the prime minister's office, where 4 protesters were killed. .
In the framework of this investigation, the former General Director of the state police, Hysni Burgaj, was interrogated, and a day later, his deputy, Agron Kuliçaj, also testified. Both have been accused of the scandal of the implementation of the arrest orders of the prosecutor's office 18 days late, for Ndrea Prendi and the other 5 guards, which severely damaged the investigation.
SPAK launched investigations into the bloody protest of January 21, 2021 on the boulevard after the Strasbourg Court ordered the Special Structure to investigate the report made by Rajmonda Nika, the wife of Aleks Nika, against Sali Berisha, Lulzim Basha and Ndrea Prendi, officials under the jurisdiction of SPAK . Strasbourg called it a state crime that needed to be clarified: who and how the order was given for the state murders of January 21 and the role of Sali Berisha and Lulzim Basha, respectively the prime minister and the interior minister at the time.
A few days ago SPAK sent the audio tape delivered a few weeks ago to the laboratory for examination, which according to the relatives of Aleks Nika, one of the four killed on the boulevard, shows that the murders are a state crime and were committed by order.
In the audio material, you can hear Ndrea Prendi, the then commander of the guard, giving the order to open combat fire on the protesters, so no more maneuver bullets.
