Lawyer Romeo Kara commented on the latest developments in the legal proceedings against Sali Berisha. According to the lawyer, this is not simply an individual or political issue, but a challenge to the very concept of establishing the rule of law in Albania.
He added that in the past, governments have often functioned as outright criminal organizations, and that legal responsibility should extend to all those who participated in decision-making, including those who voted on questionable laws or decisions.
Kara noted that collaborations within the system have been clear and that investigations must go beyond isolated individuals.
"So from all sides, this discourse that we will face tomorrow and I see it will go on for a long time. The fight will go tooth for tooth for evidence. We will be in this discourse, that they will be with the idea that it is a political war, and for me it is the challenge of building the idea of the state. This is not a trial against a person or political force, it is against the building of the state at that time.
"The gentleman can go to criminal organizations very simply because unfortunately our governments have functioned as unquestionable criminal organizations. All those who voted for the decision or even the law should go to the prosecutor's office. There is clear collaboration here ," the lawyer said on the "Real Story" show on ABC News.
