One person has been arrested and two others have been criminally prosecuted in the city of Vlora, after being accused of arson in Lukovë, Bolënë and Tragjas.
The three are accused of causing fires through negligence, which subsequently led to the burning of several hectares of land and forest environment, as well as the destruction of property.

Lukovë/A 43-year-old man is detained who caused a fire through negligence, by throwing a cigarette on the ground.
The Crime Investigation Specialists of the Himara Police Commissariat issued a detention order for the criminal offenses of "Negligent destruction of forests and forest environment by fire" and "Negligent destruction of property", for citizen BA, 43 years old, resident of the village of Lukovë. From the investigative actions, it is suspected that this citizen, on 10.08.2025, in the place called "Lapardha", after having consumed a cigarette, threw it on the ground and negligently caused a fire, where as a result of the spread of flames, 30 olive trees were burned, as well as an area of land with bushes and thorns.
Bolenë/A 34-year-old man is being prosecuted, suspected of burning an area of land with bushes, vegetation and pine trees.
After the investigative actions, the specialists for the Investigation of Crimes of the Himara Police Commissariat referred the materials to the Prosecutor's Office and initiated criminal proceedings for the criminal offense "Negligent destruction of forests and forest environment by fire", against citizen ET, 34 years old, resident of the village of Bolenë. This citizen is suspected of having started a fire on 09.08.2025, near the village cemetery, to clear the pasture he was using and as a result of the spread of the flames, an area of bushes, thorns and several pine trees was burned.
Tragjas/A 58-year-old man is being prosecuted, suspected of burning a plot of land with vegetation.
The Crime Investigation Specialists of the Orikum Police Station referred the materials to the Prosecutor's Office and initiated criminal proceedings for the criminal offense "Destruction of property by fire", against citizen G. Gj., 58 years old, resident of the village of Tragjas. This citizen is suspected of being the author of the arson of 08.08.2025, in the village of Tragjas, where a plot of land with vegetation was burned. The procedural materials for these cases were passed on to the Prosecutor's Office for further action.
"The Vlora Local Police Directorate appeals to all citizens not to light fires for any reason, including carelessness, as they will face the law. We invite citizens to report any case of arson or illegality to 112, guaranteeing complete anonymity and immediate response," the police announced.
