"Announcement of results within this week", Celibashi: Greece's

Chief Commissioner Ilirjan Celibashi spoke at a press conference about the vote counting process for the May 11 elections. Celibashi told reporters that there are problems with the progress of this process, which according to him is due to the fatigue of the counters. He called on political parties to take measures to change the members of the counting groups.

"There are 24 CEAZs that have completed the counting process for electoral subjects and have decided to start tomorrow with the vote counting process for open list candidates. We have had interruptions in the CEAZs of Fier, the vote counting process has resumed. In some CEAZs, Pustec and Devoll, the counting has been completed for parties and coalitions, as well as for candidates. The counting process has gone very well, but as in other elections we have problems with the progress and normal continuity of this process. For the most part, this slow progress is conditioned by the fatigue of the counters and members of the CEAZ. Some of them were commissioners and when the voting ended they also had to perform the task of counters. The parties should take measures to change the members of the counting groups. They know which people they have proposed and engaged and they should build a smart system. We cannot allow the interruption of the vote counting process ," said Celibashi.

Celibashi added that we will have the preliminary results within this week.

"Including external voting, I believe, we will have it within this week. It depends a lot, I said I have no excuse, a lot on the way and how the political parties that have people engaged in the external counting process will organize people in this process ," said Celibashi.

Asked about the request to appeal Greece's vote, he said it was up to the CAS to decide but stressed that the votes would definitely be counted.

"I don't know if it's the competence of the KAS, but I want to make it clear that the decision I made as a commissioner has nothing to do with whether or not the votes coming from Greece will be counted. It's a decision that ensures the process when this process is carried out by the counter and the relevant commission. That's all we ordered, no more ," he said.
