Journalist Sokol Bregu has spoken about the ongoing investigations in Greece regarding the SKY ECC conversations, where Albanians are also identified.
Sokol Bregu gave a description of the criminal activities in which Albanians are mostly involved and their struggle to increase control over the cocaine market. He said that Albanian criminal groups want to dominate the cocaine market.
According to him, the Albanians import around ten tons of cocaine a year into Greece, which they calculate at 500 million euros, all of this. They also control many public houses there have great benefits.
"Not that Greece had not had interceptions before, that they went to Greece and then came to Albania. This was related to the investigations of the Greek police about a group that was suspected of having caused four deaths, in public places, that had created terror in Greece, two during the year 2021 and then two young people in December 2022. All three murders took place in public places.
At this moment, an investigation was launched and the four victims were related to each other. An investigation was launched to find out what it was all about. Here, after two years of investigation, Encrochat and SKY ECC were also asked to see what they had exchanged at that time with each other, to come to a conclusion. This group that had caused these murders, later brought a series of murders in Albania, such as the explosion here near TEG, has brought the murder of a businessman in Tirana, the serious murder in Tepelena. They all have a connection with each other.
Let's stick to what Greece was interested in and what came out. All of them were related to the large drug traffic, where the Albanians are seeking dominance in the cocaine market. Albanians have a percentage of 31% of cannabis sativa, of Albanian groups. 24% of heroin and a very small percentage that does not reach 5% is from Albanian gangs. The Albanians import about ten tons of cocaine a year into Greece, which they calculate at 500 million euros, all of this.
Albanians also control many public houses there that have a lot of money, and there have been murders of Albanians in the center of Athens, but that is another investigation.
This was an investigation into drug trafficking. They were also touched by the police like in Albania. Prison officers came out, other stories. The whole investigation, which is not finished, but has come out in pieces, is related to a gang that Greece had destroyed in 2004-2008 and had put most of them in prison, but from prison they had ordered 11 murders, among which two were Greek lawyers.
This investigation continues and it was all about drug trafficking. I wouldn't go into names with details, because there is, at one point Alket L. says, at another moment another name, I wouldn't go into it because they also have the initials of who are the characters of the crime inside the prison. But I'm taking what I've read in general and the media has brought it up with great concern. The Greek police are definitely looking to crack down on the Albanian cocaine groups," said Bregu for "TPZ".
