Journalist Elvis Myrta said that the abuse of EU funds for which the former Minister of Health Ilir Beqja was arrested is about 500 thousand euros.
He indicated that the accusation of fraud against the former minister is related to the double procurement of an activity for the promotion of tourism, both by the ministry that covers this sector, and by the agency that was headed by Beqaj.
" In the activity we are talking about, procurement was made from the Ministry of Tourism with the value of 380 thousand euros and from the agency that was run by Beqaj with 125 thousand euros. The accusation of fraud against Beqaja is related to this, since public procurement cannot be done by two institutions for the same thing. The investigation started in September and the seizure of the phones also revealed the violations. There were 8 points that came out of the interceptions, but we are based on one point where 2 tenders were made for the same activity. Before Beqaj was investigated for sterilization, SPAK did not take him as an accused at all. And it was GJKKO that guided SPAK to go further. This investigation probably also has internal conflicts ", he said in the Review show on Euronews.
